Transition (3D Projection)

African American artist Carrie Mae Weems's 3D projected bust for the Visions of Our 44th President Exhibit, entitled, "Transition."

Renowned photographer Carrie Mae Weems uses her bust to envision a President Obama born out of conservative extremism. 3-D video images projected onto a blank bust underscore the danger of demagoguery and unpack the source of unfounded critiques of this president.

During the past 25 years, Carrie Mae Weems has worked toward developing a complex body of art that has employed photographs, text, fabric, audio, digital images, installation and, most recently, video.

Carrie is a 2013 MacArthur Foundation Fellow, and a recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Congressional Black Caucus, the Gordon Parks Foundation Award, the Lucie Foundation Award and the BET Award. Carrie Mae Weems: Three Decades of Photography and Video at the Guggenheim Museum received accolades worldwide.
