The Arrival
“In starting this project, my aim was to prepare a presentation of the President that conveyed the strength of his person along with the strength of the elected office he holds. I quickly determined that I would interpret my bust of the President using my portrait painting style. The process involved the layering of color over the entire three-dimensional form of the bust. I then accentuated the features of the face using new currents of color that flow rhythmically over all the facial features”
Born in Detroit, Michigan, Melvin Clark is included in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, the Modern African Art Gallery in Amsterdam, the Detroit Board of Education and the Printmakers Workshop in New York.
