The World is Change
“ ‘The only thing constant in the world is change.’ My choice of dragonflies covering the bust of President Obama represents that change. I’ve been performing most of my life but participating in this exhibition inspired me to express myself with drawing and painting and to develop myself more as a visual artist.”
Born in 1999, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Mamie Yanu Willis began studying dance with the National Institute of Flamenco at the age of four.
The grandaughter of Civil Rights activist A.W. Willis, Mamie has focused equally on music, dance and theater.
Now residing in Belize, she continues her academia and art studies and says that it is inspirational having a United States President so determined and invested in the people.
Mamie hopes to continue her studies of the arts in London when she graduates from high school.
