Instantly recognizable by the emotion and strength of his subjects, Kadir Nelson’s works have been exhibited in major national and international publications, institutions, art galleries and museums.
He has created paintings for Sports Illustrated, The Coca-Cola Company, The United States Postal Service, Major League Baseball and Dreamworks SKG.
Nelson’s paintings are in the collections of the U.S. House of Representatives and the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
He has received many awards for his children’s books, including a Sibert Medal, a Coretta Scott King Award, a Caldecott Honor and an NAACP Image Award.
