“When I turned 18, my grandfather stressed the importance of voting by taking me to a tree where African Americans were lynched on their way to vote. The experience left a profound impression in my mind.”

As an artist and educator, Kevin Cole included his students in creating the bust, entitled Mr. President, Hear Our Cry. Tucked in the back are students’ questions to the president from Westlake High School and Sandtown Middle School located near his home and studio in Atlanta, GA.

Cole’s work is included in over 1600 public, private and corporate collections including the Smithsonian Museum, the William Jefferson Clinton Presidential Library, Yale University Museum and Michael Jordan.
