The Dream Keeper

African American artist Louis DelSarte's painted bust for the Visions of Our 44th President Exhibit, entitled, "The Dream Keeper."

President Barack Obama has a unique ability to translate differences in order to find a common purpose for all. The colors and textures that I utilized in this work, titled The Dream Keeper, maintain that a continuum of peace, friendship, spirituality and hope is possible. The pointillism represents the faces of the world but a closer look will enable one to see the significance of human life on a one-on-one basis.”

Born in Brooklyn, New York, Louis Delsarte is a Professor of Art at Morehouse College in Atlanta. His work can be found in The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Camille Hanks Cosby Museum at Spelman College, The University of Delaware, New York University, the Corcoran Museum of Art, The Studio Museum in Harlem, the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture and the California African-American Museum.
